In the News, My Day, and The Story of the Birthday Check: Nine Ten O'five

In the News today: Bush, Cheney and anyone associated with FEMA, ought to take some lessons in disaster preparedness from the New Orleans Zoo. I guess only two animals died, and an alligator’s went missin’ at the hands of Katrina. No biggie considering there are 1,400 animals in total at that zoo. Kudos to them for having enough forethought and sense to have enough supplies on hand for all for five days.

And, speaking of FEMA, head hancho and resumé embellisher extrordinairé, Michael Brown, was FIRED YESTERDAY! He says he has no idea why. Hmmm? Maybe it’s because he said that FEMA “didn’t anticipate the lawlessness” that occurred in New Orleans post hurricane Katrina. God! What a dumbass! So glad he’s doing us all a favor and going home to Washington to walk his dog and hug his wife. Hopefully Thad will do us a better job. And, how many more days do we have until Bush and Cheney are O U T? Is anybody keeping a record for when happy days will come again? Don’t forget to vote for liberal minds next time!

Also, Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan will be retiring soon. Heard yesterday that, when he announced this, he made a little speech, and said something about interest rates crashing or something. In effect, I guess he warned the American people who have recently bought or refinanced their homes, that they will now be officially screwed up the financial ying-yang, and have major debt that they won’t be able to repay. Oh well! I guess that’s the breaks. That’s what you get when you’re forced to take the lead from GB and DC -- a big denial and delay with the inevitable screwing!

By the way, I’d just like to take the time to thank those imbeciles in the white house once again for helping so many hard working Americans achieve their dreams, and lose everything they have worked for before they even have it. Love ya -- NOT! Can I help you boys pack your bags and board the train to Auschwitz ? I mean, New Orleans? I mean, Club Fed? PLEASE, OH PLEASE?! We’ll be serving drinks! We have gin and “tonic” on tap today. Heehee.. :)

As far as my life goes - have been living the life of a cat for most of this day. Went to OMSI early for a training, came home, put on my jammies, made spaghetti, chicken and salad, ate, watched a little TV, and have been laying in my bed with the girls (my cats) for the remainder, listening to various podcasts on my ipod and sleeping. So far, I really like “Signs of the times” and “American Descent Radio”.

The training at OMSI went well. I spent most of it just experiencing the animals, and watching how things go down in the lab. It was great meeting and experiencing the animals. Some of them I knew, but most of them I didn’t. By the way, Buttercup broke her little arm, and Bubba is getting ready to molt. Be sure to keep your fingers crossed for those critters. I’ll be. :)

Most of the kids I saw were standoffish towards me. A good number of them would stand and look at me, and then when I’d say “Hi, I’m Stink.” they’d look at me as if to say, “Oh my God! You actually talk?!” then they’d run away. I’m hoping that soon though, I’ll be a hit, in high demand with the little ones.

And now for the story on the birthday check. For the first time in 33 years, I was going to shred the one that was given to me by my parents. This was due to the fact that mom said some things to me post purchase of some birthday gear, and I felt guilted by them. I thought that was abuse I didn’t have to take (anymore) so I elected to shred the check. And also, my parents bought me enough crap. They don’t need to be giving me a check for 100 big ones too. The things I needed, the meals they treated me to, and their trip up were enough. So, I’m not accepting the check. And, instead of shredding it, I’ll cash it, and donate the money to the Red Cross.
